Advice needed please ....

I made this wee card for a good friend in work who's leaving for a new soooper-dooper job!   I used one of my new LOTV stamps (well you can't just buy ONE stamp can you?!!), but I didn't quite apply just enough pressure and some of the eyes kittens eyes didn't come out right.  No problem ... I just went over them with a fine black marker ..... and that's why the kitty in the bottom centre looks a bit startled and cross-eyed! Bwahahaha!

Anyway, the advice I need .... one of my team mates in work is retiring and I originally bought this stamp as it has cats on it and she's cat-crazy .... but now I'm wondering if its suitable for a 'retirement' card? What do you think??
And here's another candy alert for you ... from my good bloggy buddy Benzi ... click HERE for more info on her Spring Has Sprung candy and to enter (ends 28 Apr)

Stampin Bunny

This wee LOTV stamp was a recent purchase I treated myself too ... isn't she just perfect for a stamping buddy!

Recipe: Coloured with promarkers and some gloss added to the wee pencils and to her nose; gems coloured to match.  Woodware flower punch.  Old sentiment stamp from stash.  Yellow bakers twine.  Red ribbon recycled from wrapping on a pressie and has been knocking round my ribbon box since Christmas!
BTW, have you seen Jude's amazing half term candy over at Crafts International ? ... ends on 31 March, so you'd need to be quick!

Little donkey

Awww isn't this just the cutest little donkey! I make a few cards every month which are sold to raise funds for our local animal shelter and apparently they've had requests for some horsey cards (who knew they'd be so popular!!!) (Big shout out here for my SIL Andrea, who produces a huge amount of cards for the shelter every month and keeps our local vets supplied with a card stash!!) I don't really have many horsey images, so this little donkey is about as close as I'm gonna get!

Oh, and don't forget if you haven't played in the Dream Valley Challenge yet, you've another week to get your Mother's Day card made!

Recipe: Meljens image coloured with promarkers and red stickles added to the little hearts. Pearls coloured to match. Martha Stewart butterfly punch and scalloped border punch. Swirl from Marianne Design. Whimsy ticket die; sentiment from Simon Says Stamp

Sniffer Dog

I made this for this weeks SCS Featured stamper ... Quixotic ... HERE is her original.
Thought I'd blow the dust off my watercolour pencils today and have a go at colouring a background as challenged by Make it Colourful! - I took inspiration from Annika's beautiful watercoloured sky, and used blues, yellows and oranges (though now I look back on Annika's card I wish I'd added purples too!)

Stamp from High Hopes; doggy paper from stash; ribbon is another unloved purchase ... I never really used it as its kinda wire-edged and is impossible to tie a bow with, so I loved Quixotic's idea of her loopy bow.

Peekin Bunny

Not much mojo today ... but at least it was a lovely sunny day and we got the garden (and the weeds!) all sorted.
The only stamped thing on this wee card is the sentiment ... the cute little bunny is cut from some Dovecraft kiddies DP.  The lovely pearl swirl was made with a template from Doodl-eaze, though I probably wouldn't have embossed that red panel if I'd thought of it beforehand as it was a real pain to get the pearls stuck down!

Card for Gareth

(ETA: I got Top 3 at Colour Throwdown with this card)

Oh I'm pooped!  Had another busy busy day in work, then we took Ruby to the park after tea, had a wee crafty session with my SIL, and then made this wee card!  Just gonna post it and go to bed me thinks!

This is a special order card.  I always found making blokey cards so hard, but I've come to the conclusion its because I'm drawn to cute and sparkly things and hardly have any 'male' images or papers.  So I bought some of this lovely Dovecraft DP (from Silly Monkey Crafts which is sadly closing down ... they've a 50% off sale on) and used my Whipper Snapper monster and bunting from Practising Creativity.

Recipe:
Gave my bunting some white polka dots and then added some diamond ice stickles.  Doodled dotty border with black pen.  Silver peel off numbers and sentiment.  Clear gloss added to accents on the monster.  Coloured with Promarkers (pear green, cornflower blue, putty, honeycomb).  Dienamics cloud die.  Arrow punch.
Here's a wee pic of the fabulous show of daffodils down at our park ... unfortunately it was nearly dusk when we were there so we'll have to go back when its brighter!

Gone Fishin

Happy Tuesday!  Hope yours was better than mine!  Spent most of it being overloaded in work and the rest of it trying to fill in an application form for my own job!  Its so hard when you're used to just getting stuck into your work having to stop and think hmmm what do I actually do!!!!  D-Day for my interview has been set for 15 April, so I'll give you a wee shout before then and you can all send me some positive vibes .... I'll need all the help I can get, its been over 20 years since I had to sit an interview!

I thought I'd have a bash at using up some much un-loved DP ... I bought a stash of this when I first started card making because it was cheap but its lain in the back of my stash almost ever since!  But at least I got to use my High Hopes fisherman stamp which I love!  Coloured with promarkers, pink stickles added to his hat, braces attachment and to the card candy; frosted lace stickles added to the blue card candy and the water; smooch illuminate on braces; clear gloss added to wee fish and the fishing rod (....its been a looooong day, I almost called it a fishing stick LOL!)  Swirly brass doodahs from my stash.
Before I go, I haven't shared any photos with you for ages, so here's a wee cutie of Ruby in her bed with her teddy George (anyone remember the kids programme Rainbow?) ... wouldn't you know by that face that she'd much rather be sleeping on the living room sofa!!

On the phone... version 2

I had another go at using my Whimsy ticket die on this second card, and also the Whimsy Wish List stamp.  The rose ribbon is oldie stuff from my stash and my DP (Papermania) has been knocking round my box for a couple of years now!  Coloured with mixture of copics and promarkers, and bling coloured to match.

On the phone .... Version 1

Its been a bit of a damp overcast day, so no fence painting today ... hooray (don't think my wee hands would have stuck another day of it without needing a serious manicure!!)
So instead I had a bit of a play with this lovely stamp from Victoria Case for SCACD .... stay tuned for another version!!   Coloured with Promarkers and I doodled my curly border to match the telephone wire.  And I used my little Whimsy tickets/dies (that I just 'had to have', but for some reason I find very difficult to use!!!)

Scrambling egg!

Painter  Wow, can you believe its Saturday evening already!  I've had a great couple of days off and got the paving in the back garden all power hosed and the garden fence painted.  Looks like a good job, even if I do say so myself!  Though I've a dent in my finger from holding the paintbrush for hours, a few little tiny splinters, split nails and rough skin to show for all my hard work too!  And not much time or energy left for card making, except thiss wee quickie using a fun stamp from Elzybells (now closed).  Its very CAS, though looks busier 'cause of my jazzy DP!

(Don't forget to pop back tomorrow lunchtime if you get a chance and check out the new Dream Valley challenge)

Happy St Patrick's Day!

St. Patty's Clover PinwheelYippee for St Patrick's Day!  We get a free day off work, but I'll be spending it getting rid of green .... the green on my fence and paving that is!  Its due to be a nice day, so the power washer is coming out!  I treated   myself to Friday off as well, so I've a lovely long weekend ahead.

I was lucky enough to win this cute stamp from Sugar Nellie and I found this fab lemon paper in my stash that's been there for a looooooong time ... what a perfect match!
Oh, and in case you're wondering, my gems were so nicely spaced using this fab ruler from Little Claire Designs - the bargain of the year if you ask me!

Recipe: Coloured with promarkers, clear gloss added to her wellies and strip on her hat, and smooch illuminate added to the lemons.  Martha Stewart border punch.  Lace attached with staples.  Peel off gold border strips and yellow gems from stash.

Card for Charlie

I think this wee 'Cheeky Sean' from High Hopes is one of my favourite stamps!  Coloured him with promarkers and added clear gloss to his teeth and eyes.  Silver peel offs and some card candy to finish.

Card for Zack

This Birthday Wish List stamp (Whimsy) was another one I had to buy after a visit to Crystal's blog (....I think I should stop visiting her blog, would definately be cheaper for me!!!)  But I'm glad I got it, I love it!  Wee mouse (Whiff Of Joy stamp) is coloured with promarkers, popped up on dimensionals and clear gloss and glitter added to icing.  Silver peel offs and green gems from stash.

Ruby's birthday card

No it's not a card for my doggy, its for a friend of my Mum! hee hee!  I've a few commissioned cards to show you, so apologies in advance for the blogger overload tonight!
This one uses a really old stamp from Stampin Up and the little pink pearls were part of the goodies that Dawn sent me.

Chicken Run!

Its been absolute eons since I last used this Whipper Snapper stamp, don't know why 'cause I always love it when I do!  Coloured with promarkers and their little tails popped up on dimensionals at the ends.  Coloured my bling to match.
Oh and before I forget, Really Reasonable Ribbon want to see your ribbon storage .... so this is my organised chaos .....
There is actually some organisation here belive it or not! .... loose ribbons are stored in a wee bag according to general colour theme, bakers twine stays separate, and my spooled ribbons live in another very messy shoe box!
Now when you've finished laughing ! ... pop over to RRR and see their fab storage ideas and some of the amazing storage some peeps have in the wee Mr Linky pics.  (v. envious!!)

Blingy Swingy!

uurgh, its been a horrible dark, dreary and wet day today (we woke up to a skiff of snow this morning too!), mind you, when you watch the news and see the horrors unfolding in Japan, we've little to be complaining about.

This wee card uses a Pure Innocence image that Jo kindly stamped for me and the sparkly chipboard flower was one of Dawn's goodies too!  I coloured her dress to match the DP (from papermania), but then I thought she looked a bit drab, so I added some Smooch Illuminate to her dress (don't think it shows in the pic) and blinged up the tree leaves with some lime green stickles.  Couple of wee pearls and gold peel off sentiment to finish.

Hanging on the Telephone!

Yippee for Friday evening ... definately has to be one of the best times of the week!  (....apart from Sunday lunch at Mum's! hee hee!)  We've no plans for the weekend .... if it's a decent day tomorrow I'll get the paving out in the back garden power hosed, but it's looking like rain so I might just have a nice wee crafty day instead!

There's loads of 'green' challenges out there this week for St Paddy's Day so I had a wee play with my new SCACD stamp (I loitered too long at Crystal's blog admiring this gorgeous card, and before I knew it I'd been shopping!  oops!)  I also used some of these pretty flowers that Jo kindly sent me .. thanks Jo!
ETA: coloured my image with promarkers and added some white dots to match the flowers

Happy Mail!

I got some happy mail today ... I recently won Dawn's candy and this Gorjuss decoupage pack was one of the goodies that popped through my letterbox today!  Of course I couldn't wait to have a wee play, but energy levels are low so I just kept it nice and clean and simple.  Just added some sparkly silver peeloffs and some card candy to finish.
Don't forget to have a wee play at the Dream Valley Challenge .. New Beginnings!

Dream Valley Challenge #2

Our 2nd challenge at Dream Valley is New Beginnings .... new baby, new house, new anything .... its your choice! Upload your card HERE before our next challenge in a fortnight's time on 20 March ... and check out the fab cards from the rest of the DT while you're there!
(We have 2 fab sponsors this time One Stop Card Crafts and Crafty Ribbons)

My card uses a wee High Hopes image - coloured with promarkers, popped up on dimensionals and their little shirts are paper pieced. Sentiment from Simon Says and papers from Dovecraft

Other challenges:
  • Sketch from Friday Sketchers #144
  • Fussy and Fancy - embossing and/or paper piecing
  • Polka Doodles #9 - use at least 3 flowers
  • Simon Says Stamp ... recipe - 1 image, 2 patterned DPs, 3 different embellies (I used flowers, butterflies and bling)
  • Top Tip Tuesday - use your favourites (I used my favourite brand of stamp... High Hopes!) And my Top Tip this week is to add stickles to your cut ribbon edges and that will stop it fraying and add a bit of sparkle too!

Bear Hugs!

Well we got a bit further on with our fence, but its just way too chilly out there!  So I came into the warm and made some cards instead!
I finally caved in and bought a wee swirl die (this one's a Marianne Creatibles) and I must admit, I love it!  My image was a freebie digi a while back from Bugaboo, isn't she a cutie!

Triplicate Bunnies!

HammeringSorry I've been M.I.A. all week .... its been one of those weeks (again!) in work (finally got my interview date for mid-April, this old restructuring lark has gone on way too long now!) and then today we dismantled our garden fence, put up new crossbars, painted them, got the old wood round to the recycling yard, tidied the garden, and picked the splinters out of my hands....  So I'm pooped now and in need of a wee soak in the bath!  Hopefully we'll have the energy to get the fence panels nailed on tomorrow and if its dry next weekend I'll get it painted ..... don't know why, but I LOVE painting fences!  I reckon if all goes pear-shaped with my job in work I'll set myself up as a fence painter instead!

Anyway, on to my wee card.  I'm blameing it on tiredness, but I should have had my star ribbon brad higher up and I also had a bit of an unsuccessful attempt at the bleached background technique ... believe it or not this is a text stamp - I think I should have used more 'watery' bleach instead of the thick stuff, maybe it would have stamped better??

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and if you get a chance pop back tomorrow ... I promise to have a much nicer card for you for Dream Valley's challenge #2!

Challenges
  • Sketch from Stamp TV
  • Oldie but a Goodie #13 - Spring is in the Air
  • Marks Finest Papers #45 - use the bleach technique
  • Papertake Weekly - anything goes with the added option of using something old ... I've used this stamp from Shirleys 2 Girls I bought last year and my purple ribbon is oldie stuff from my stash
  • Colour theme from Copic Creations #45 ... I used the yellow orange / blue violet choice
