Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all - hope you have a great evening whether you're going out partying or being boring and staying in (....like me!)  Health, Happiness and Peace to you for 2010 (doesn't that date sound funny!)

Thought I'd share some of the lovely handmade cards I got at Christmas.

This little stitched reindeer was from my SIL, there's loads of beading work on this too.

My Mum sent us this gorgeous decoupaged card that she'd asked someone to make for us.  Cool eh?

Emma (aka Mrs Giraffe) sent this cutie

This sweet and sparkly penguin came from Pat

Ginny sent this beauty with some blog candy that I won recently

And finally this lovely card from Brenda - aka Benzi from Splitcoaststampers

Chris's 40th Birthday

Made this card for my BIL's 40th Birthday.  I don't have many male stamps so used this Penny Black one, coloured with copics and mounted on silver card.  I added clear glaze to the icing and my blue stardust pen for the cake filling.

The LO came from the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge 261.

A CAS Thank You

Sorry about the rubbish photo - its been dark here all day, I even had the light on at lunchtime.  And its such a cold wind too .... which has just blown down part of our back garden fence ...grrr!  It was also very windy last night and set off the car alarm at 3am ... scared the life out of me! Scared 1

I love clean and simple cards - they take ages to put together but only minutes to actually make!  All this one needed was my flower punch, a silver peel off greeting, silver gems and a clear glitter pen.
I used the colour combo from Colour Create #34.  The theme of Thank You is from both CRAFT challenge #31 and Creative Inspirations #41

I made a DT !

Yip, you heard right, I'm joining the Sweet'n Sassy Digis Design Team in January!   I'm sooo pleased!

Anyway, I thought I'd make a card with one of their recently released stamps - Be Mine Cocoa - well it is nearly Valentine's Day (and you know my New Year's resolution is to be more organised! LOL!)  I wanted the little mouse's tail to stick out the edge of the frame, so I coloured another image (with copics) and popped it up on dimensionals.  Added some glitter to the red heart and to the frill on the bigger heart.  The silver ribbon is recycled 'trash' from a Christmas gift.

Rosie-D's Challenge #61 is Digi Sparkle

Get Sketchy challenge this week is Trash to Treasure and One Stop Craft Challenge #60 is Recycle (I rescued some ribbon from a Chrissie present - I'm not sure if this can be called Trash as all us card makers rescue ribbon automatically!)

My favourite project of the year

The Stamp Man have a blog hop on at the moment, but they are also asking you to look at your work over the past year and pick out a favourite project - click here for more deets.  Its amazing how much of your own stuff you've forgotten you've made!

Anyway this accordion card was one of my favourites of the year

Christmas ABC Blog Hop

ABC have a new sister challenge site starting on 30 December ABC Christmas Challenge!  So by Christmas next year I should have at least 25 cards in my stash.  (Anyone wanna take bets?!!!)

BTW, there's a blog hop on now (till 29 Dec) with the chance of winning some Christmas crafty goodies.

Simon Says ... Party!

Hop you've all recovered from the festivities over the past couple of days - we finally finished the remanants of the turkey today (Christmas wouldn't be the same without it, but I'll not be looking for it again till 25 Dec 2010!)
2010 Balloon
The Simon Says challenge this week is Party - I can't think of any 'partyish' stamps in my stash, so used this little froggy to make a Hoppy New Year card - I just cut off the A from my peel off greeting and stuck in an O instead.  Frog is popped up on dimensionals, coloured with copics and red stickles added.

Thank you!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day!  We spent ours at Mum's with all the family and had the most delicious dinner .... thanks Mum and Minnie!

Elf   So did Santa deliver any crafty goodies for you?  These fab stamps and pretty ribbon were some of mine.  Coloured with copic markers and the cow's head popped up on dimensionals. Old papers from my stash.

The Twelve Days of Christmas

What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

This week, I found out.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.

Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.

The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today!

Happy Anniversary Love Birds

ETA: I won 5 packets of white flowers from the Craft Garden's challenge with this card

Oh, its sooooo nice not to be making Christmas cards!  Though having said that, there's a new challenge blog starting mid-January - Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club - so between them and Winter Wonderland I'm determined to have all my Christmas cards made in plenty of time next year (...and this time I really mean it!!)

I've hardly anything left in my stash, so I thought I'd start with an Anniversary Card.  Coloured these little birdies with my copic markers and also the flowers to match.  Peel off greeting and some gold gems to finish.

Sketch from The Craft Garden's December challenge.  I always find it really difficult to stick papers down at an angle and not straight, so this definately was a challenge for me!

EtsyInspired #67: Pink Birdies

ETA: I won the Etsy Inspired Challenge with this card!
This week's EtsyInspired challenge shop is Kindly Noted and I used this cute little birdie picture as my inspiration.
My birdie stamps and sentiment from Simon Says.  Coloured with copic markers and used my quickie glue to add some clear sparkly glitter to their bellies.

Traditional Tilda Christmas

For some reason I don't really use my Tilda stamps - all 2 of them! - very often (I think its because they always look a bit sad and don't have a mouth) but I LOVE how this card turned out.
I found a wee video on Stamp TV about using your quickie glue pen with glitter, and its so easy to do, I was always faffing about with blobs of glue.

The Pink Elephant challenge #45 is Winter / Christmas

Crafty Creations #46 is Traditional Christmas - red, green, gold

Luvvies Card

Creative Card Crew's challenge #41 is Anything Goes, so I'm uploading this card.  I've been asked these past few years to make a card from a local acting group (the Belvoir Players) to thank their Director for his hard work after their Pantomime.  This year's production is Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs - all their images are copyright so I had to do a bit of lateral thinking and came up with the apple that Snow White eats.  Hope they like it, cause if they don't I've no idea what to put on it!

Look what we got this morning!

Now don't laugh all you lot with your huge snow drifts, but we got about 4" last night.  It's already on the thaw, so if the kids don't get out of bed soon they're going to miss it!
Poor Ruby wasn't entirely sure what to make of it all (...and yes, I managed to stop the video before the 'yellow snow' LOL!)
I had to upload this via YouTube as I couldn't figure out how to add a video to my blog (it said in the help bar to click on the filmstrip in the toolbar, but I don't have a film strip!)

Sparkly Birthday cake

Die Cut Dreams #27 is Glitter Me Silly
I'm kinda tired of Christmas cards, so I had a play with my new goodies from Simon Says instead.  I mounted the little birthday cake on dimensionals and added clear stickles to the icing and gold to the candle flame.
Colour combo inspired by Get Sketchy's challenge this week - use your favourite colour.  I've loads of favourites, but I'm in a PINK mood today!

My first Box

Crazy 4 Challenges #16 is to make a Treat Holder, Allsorts challenge #32 is Anything but a card and The Secret Crafter #63 is Last Minute Gifts.  I'd bought a pack of chocolate covered Turkish Delight (YUCK!) for my friend who could eat them till the cows come home, but they needed 'fancying up' a bit!

I followed the tutorial for Nugget boxes on Splitcoaststampers, but I don't think my corners would stand up to a close examination!  Just made it out of white cardstock and then covered the sleeve with some Christmas wrapping paper - who could resist this paper covered in little 'Rubys'!  Added a few stickles round the edges for some bling.

I then used some scraps of papers to wrap round the individual bars and added some gold stars and little puffy stickers to finish.

Ruby's card!

This is Ruby's card to her favourite person ... my Mum!  Ha Ha!

The Corrosive Challenge #42 is Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Kaboodle Doodle challenge #20 is Winter Sparkle - I added loads of stickles to my snow and clear peel off snowflakes for shine

The Pink Elephant challenge #45 is Winter / Christmas

And my stamp is just perfect for the Banana Split Sunday challenge .. A tree!

Stamp from Eat Cake Graphics and pretty red ribbon from my candy stash received from Ginny.

Simon Says ... Merry Christmas

Simon Says challenge this week is Merry Christmas and High Hopes challenge 56 is to make a Tall card - I made this gift wallet for my brother for Christmas.  Sorry for the really pants photo, but my wee camera can't cope with bad lighting.  Used my favourite HH doggy stamp and added some gold peel off jazzy flowers and a gold peel off greeting.  My Aunt Minnie got me the lovely ribbon from the Belfast craft show and I used the FAB Bow Easy to make the bow ... if you haven't got one, you need one!  The 'blobs' in the corner are gold gems.

Colour combo from Stampin for the Weekend #28 - Blue and Brown with the added option of Festive

Monday Lunchtime Sheepy

Another outing for my little Sheepy.  Kept it really simple and followed the sketch from the Monday Lunchtime Challenge #99 (bit late!)

Though I've noticed that where my snow writer touched my doodled border, it has lifted the colour a bit.  Grrrrr.

ICS46 Sheepy

I'm almost finished with the Christmas cards you'll be glad to see!
Sheep from Penny Black.  Got the foam snowflakes as a bargain in my local craft shop - just added some clear stickles for a bit of bling.  Used the Bow Easy that I won in Lacey's Wednesday Blog Candy ... what a fab little gadget!  Its a bit confusing to start, but there's loads of tutorials on YouTube to help.

This card follows the sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches #46

My colour combo is inspired by The Pink Elephant #44 - use your favourite Christmas colour combo (mine's the traditional red and green)

My first Easel Card

Create4Fun's challenge #50 is to make an Easel Card.  I'd never made one before and found a great tutorial link on their website, so used it to make my Mum's birthday card.  These gorgeous papers were part of the stash that Ginny sent me with her recent candy that I won.  The stamp is an oldie but goodie from Pink Gem Designs.  I dotted in the bg of the stamp to match the papers and added a couple of chipboard flowers from my stash.

SSHP10: Christmas flowers

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential challenge#10 is Christmas flowers.  I coloured my image with Stampin up markers and coloured the scalloped edge with the marker to match.  Central flower decoupaged and gold stickles added to centres.  Simple!

Sketch & Stash Turkey

For all my non-UK Bloggy Buddies.. in case your wondering why I'm using a Turkey on my Christmas card, its because we don't do Thanksgiving over here and traditionally we have Turkey for Christmas dinner! (this one's from High Hopes stamps)

Sketch from Sketch & Stash challenge #25

My 'stash' is the snowflake ribbon brad I got at the craft fair in the Kings Hall, Belfast - but only because theyre too nice to use!  Also the downloaded papers from Pink Petticoat - I think I've only used these about 3 times since I got them!

Simon Says ... Let It Snow

Another outing for my turkey - the little sign usually says 'go vegan' but I masked it out so I could put a Christmas greeting there instead.

Simon Says challenge this week is Let it Snow - I had intended to get this finished so I could enter it in their Charms challenge but didn't have time, so luckily the little snowflake charm can also pass for this challenge!  Added some flower soft for Snow.

Sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp #17

Shiney Turkey

This one's for Stamptacular Sunday challenge #36 - Let it Shine.  I used my shiney silver card on the top of the card and also round the sentiment.  Also some stickles added to the turkey lurkey

Ruby-dooby-doo's Christmas card!

Crafty Creations challenge #45 is Christmas for my pet, but I thought I'd give this card to a friend who runs a dog visiting scheme where dogs go into hospitals and residential homes.

I got the little Ruby image in a swap last year - coloured bg with watercolours so I could leave her white and added loads of stickles for some bling.

Thought I'd add in the photo the little Ruby-dog ornament my Mum got me last year.  Our Christmas tree is now up and decorated ... why does it take hours to put up and only a fraction of the time to take it all down!

Colour idea from Papertake Weekly and Creative Inspirations #38 who both had the idea of non-traditional colours on a Christmas card (no red or green)
